UNDERSTANDING OFSTED’S RENEWED EDUCATION INSPECTION FRAMEWORK
Course Overview
This course is designed for leaders, governors and managers in the Further Education and Skills sector who need a clear, practical understanding of Ofsted’s renewed education inspection framework for 2025.
The day supports delegates to understand the key differences between the 2019 framework and the renewed inspection framework, how inspections are now structured, and how the FES toolkit is applied in practice.
Delegates will explore how inspection judgements are formed, how inclusion is evaluated, and what the renewed framework means for quality improvement and self-assessment.
This course is suitable for:
- Governors and those exercising the role of governance
- CEOs, Managing Directors and senior leaders
- Senior managers responsible for quality and improvement
- Leaders across Further Education and Skills provision types preparing for Ofsted inspection

What the course covers
During the event, delegates will:
- Understand the key differences between the 2019 Ofsted inspection framework and the renewed framework
- Gain clarity on how the FES toolkit is applied during inspection
- Explore how grades are applied and evidenced in practice
- Develop their understanding of Ofsted’s approach to inclusion and evaluation
- Consider any strategic implications that the renewed framework might present for their own provision type/s
- Build confidence in using the framework to support self-assessment, quality improvement and inspection preparation
How the event works
This course is designed to support learning beyond the event day itself. Delegates will:
- Receive course resources in advance
- Learn alongside a cohort of Further Education and Skills providers
- Enjoy a safe space to ask questions and explore real-world scenarios
- Receive clear, transparent and authoritative responses
- Be invited to a follow-up online surgery via Microsoft Teams, held four weeks after the event, to discuss implementation and further questions (included in the course fee)
