Training for the Further Education and Skills sector
This is FES delivers specialist training for the post-16 Further Education and Skills sector, shaped by first-hand inspection practice and extensive experience within Ofsted.
We focus on what leaders, governors and nominees need to understand and apply in practice. Delegates leave our courses with greater confidence, clearer understanding and practical next steps they can apply immediately within their own provision.
All courses include pre-course resources and a post-course follow-up surgery, giving delegates the opportunity to reflect, embed learning and ask further questions once they have returned to their provision.

Understanding Ofsted’s renewed education inspection framework
A strategic, practical course for leaders and governors who need to understand what has changed in Ofsted’s renewed education inspection framework and what this means for their provision.
This course explores the origins and rationale of the renewed framework, the key differences from the 2019 framework, how to interpret the FES toolkit, and how inclusion is evaluated. It supports delegates to self-evaluate accurately, plan improvement confidently and engage constructively during inspection.
Ideal for:
Governors, CEOs, principals, senior leaders and managers with responsibility for quality and improvement.

Ofsted inspects: how to be a successful nominee through all the stages of inspection
A practical, confidence-building course for existing, new and developing inspection nominees, including shadow nominees.
This course supports delegates to understand the nominee role before, during and after inspection, navigate the renewed inspection methodology, and manage inspection dynamics with professionalism and reduced stress. It focuses on inspection planning, professional dialogue, well-being and effective challenge.
Ideal for:
Inspection nominees, shadow nominees and leaders supporting the nominee role within their organisation.
